Paul Goldsmith is both an accomplished pilot (25,000+ hours) and businessman. Paul is a licensed commercial pilot with instrument and multi-engine ratings. His involvement in aviation began during his former career, professional auto and motorcycle racing. Paul began racing motorcycles for Harley-Davidson, and eventually became involved in stock car racing. Paul is one of the early heroes of NASCAR and still holds numerous records. His best finish at Indianapolis was 3rd. He was one of the original drivers who began using aircraft to fly to the racetracks in order to save time.

Our History
Griffith Aviation, Inc. is located in Griffith, Indiana at the Griffith-Merrillville Airport which is an important gateway to the local communities of Northwest Indiana as well as Chicago and the greater Chicago Metropolitan Area. Paul Goldsmith started Griffith Aviation, Inc. in 1984 with a small office building and a hanger of 800 sq.ft. with air charter and air ambulance work. This continued through the late 1990’s. Also in 1984 our F.A.A. approved flight school began its first foreign pilot schooling, beginning with a partnership with SAS Airlines based in Sweden and Norway, this continued through the mid 1990’s. In 2008 Griffith Aviation, Inc. started Chinese pilot training and this continues to this day. Griffith Aviation, Inc. continues to provide flight instruction (Part 61 & 141) and serve as a full service FBO at the Griffith-Merrillville Airport, so whether you are looking to learn to fly or need aircraft services we have you covered!
